I was walking the backyard yesterday trying to find something to photograph and came across these red and black beetles. There were hundreds of them in a single 1 square foot area. I have no idea what kind they are. If you have any guess let me know. Found in North Texas

G'day and welcome to the forums.

Do not know what they are but for heaven's sake keep 'em in Texas! Yuck.

Hang on to those original install discs like grim death! Using OS X.7 or later make a bootable USB thumb drive before running Installer!

Hey Harry.... they look like cross bred Lady Bugs to me. Maybe they're called "Frankenbugs".

Saw a special on National Geo TV the other night about the invasion of Central American Frogs in Australia. It was about as bad as the Rabbit invasion you guys had down there some years ago. Seems like when critters go down under they like it and breed like crazy!

Really? Never heard of the frog invasion unless they are cane toads. And I loved baked and casseroled rabbit. Nowadays you pay about $8 for a rabbit at the butchers

There's a similar looking species - in size and shape - here in Australia (probably not native though) except they're a very bright green and blue... and from memory, the younger ones are more reddish like this. I have some photos somewhere, I'll try dig them up...
