I always think I buy myself the best Christmas gifts. This year was no exception as I have a Tokina 11-16mm F/2.6 super wide angle zoom lens coming for my Nikon D7000 DX body. Reviewed as the sharpest lens on the market for that Nikon I look forward to putting it through its paces.

My lens collection includes a Nikkor 50mm F/1.4G, a Nikkor 85mm F/3.5 VRII Macro, a Nikkor 18-200mm F/3.5-5.6 VRII and now a Tokina 11-16mm F/2.8 wide angle zoom. My departure from Nikkor was due to the Tokina being higher rated than the Nikkor 10-24mm F/3.5 at $900. The Tokina was $700.

I intend to use it for indoor architectural photos such as ornate fireplaces, exterior closeups such as old barns, churches and landmark lighthouses. I'll have to try out scenic waterfalls since I now will be able to get the whole vertical falls in one frame without resorting to panoramic captures. Of course my animal photos at the Portland, OR Zoo will be greatly aided by the extreme angle of view as well as my flower and landscape photos. Can you tell I'm excited?

I'm now officially jealous!

Of course, I know everything . . . I just can't remember it all at once.

I have an 11-16. While I don't use it often, it IS a great lens. Enjoy!

The relative lack of barrel distortion is easily fully removed in Ps or Lr

Sweet lens you have there. My 18-200mm F/3.5-5.6 VRII Nikkor has been my workhorse for over a year. The rest of my kit are specialty lenses. I went on a bus tour vacation last July to 5 national parks. I carried only that 18-200mm. I'm sure you'll enjoy that fast glass of yours as well.
