I recently moved from iPhoto to Aperture. Since I really have no need for iPhoto anymore, should I just completely remove the application?

All my pictures are imported to Aperture and are backed up on an external drive.

Just figured I could save some space...

What do you think?

If it was me, I wouldn't. I don't know how big your HDD is, but iPhoto hardly takes up a colossal amount of space. Providing I had removed all the photos from iPhoto, thus not to create duplicates, then I'd leave it where it is.

I don't use half the apps my mac shipped with, but I don't go deleting them willy-nilly, just incase.

I haven't, and glad I didn't. iPhoto seems to be the core app, and although I can do most things with Aperture, every once in a awhile something comes up where iPhoto solves the problem.
