changing the my computer icon

ive just downloaded loads of icons and was swopping them around and i went to change the icon of my computer(the old imac)that sits in the top left hand hand corner of the finder window, but it wouldnt let me paste my new icon onto it, it says i can only read!dont spose anyone knows a way of getting round this?cheers
