Photo Booth & Effects

I don't usually use Photo Booth but would now like to as I have a friend in Australia and we want to speak to each other via Skype. Problem is, I wanted to put a video effect in the background and the "Help" says "Click Effects, then click the right arrow until you see the video backdrop effects". The problem is, that option doesn't appear. The only effects you can add are still pictures [and these are poor because of pixellation] so can anyone help?
