    Mac OS X v. 10.6.5
    how to play a "wmv" file
    I was sent a file with an extension "wmv" but when I click on it, nothing happens. How to I play it?

    Get the freeware software called Flip4Mac available here:
    Windows Media player for Mac - Flip4Mac WMV Overview - Telestream
    then you should be able to watch it in quicktime, you could also try VLC player

    I'd also suggest installing the free Perian module -- it doesn't specifically deal with WMV files, but with some of the other non-standard "standards" out there.
