What are the desktop equivalents to iphone photo editing apps

I found that many of the apps available for the iphone for photo editing can give great effects, with more simplicity than say...photoshop. Some effects include: swapping one color out for another. leaving only one color in, rest black and white. adding in simple frames panorama stitching face swapping miniaturized effect basic effects: sepia, vibrant, faded etc... Obviously some aren't exactly "real", like the hdr editing effect. Preferably free? Any recommendations?
