Good way of keeping photos in order?....

Hi!

Can anyone here recommend a good way (or a link/website) that can tell me how to keep photos etc. in good order?

I'm not very good with files and folders etc.

Ideally, I'd like to be able to view all my photos as thumbnails, so I can see what they are, instead of a number!

Thanks in advance!

Yes, that's where everything goes now. But a lot of stuff has been imported from another Mac and they're just like in folders etc. Is there anyway I can put all these on an external hard-drive and direct them to iphoto? Just like itunes?

First, I'd import those "loose" photos into iPhoto using the Import function of iPhoto. Do it folder by folder and the organization will "stick". Then, to move that library to an external, do this: iPhoto: How to move the Library folder to a new location
