Hello,

I have little experience in Illustrator. A friend of mine wanted me to slap out a quick logo for him. A basic logo, which is simple so it can go on many different places (ie easy to read large or small and not overly complicated)

I did this but find it too basic and want to add to it....not sure how to do that.

The business it is representing is a goalie school's online site

Any advice would be appreciated.

Thanks

Nice start!
I think for sure that the word goalie should be much smaller than the E. You could make the focus the Big E with the hockey puck. Make it larger and then put the "Goalie" in side of it in a smaller font. Play with it.

one thing i see is that the word goalie is slanting the to the left why not slant is to the right the way the hockey puck is going. you could also make the "e" bigger and put the word goalie underneath it. in any case you need to connect the "e" and the goalie together.. maybe have the puck go through the word goalie. the ideas are really limitless, but as of now in my opinion i feel it is disconnected and not flowing. it looks as if they are running into each other

Thanks for the help so far. Feedback from the guy who I a doing the logo for is:

1. I want the "e" to be the focal point but I think it needs to be slightly smaller then the G in goalie
2. Add some red to the "e" I'm thinking the swoosh part right before the puck

hey, i definitely like the incorporation of the puck with the e, and your clients suggestions are good as well. try making the e by yourself, without using a type face. I think it'll look better as a more "swoosh" like e. Also, the e should be smaller, but colored. Even though it's smaller, the color will make it the focal point. and i think where he's coming from with the small e is things like "eMail or eBay"

Might wanna fix t he bottom of the puck, too, needs to be more rounded.

That is a really great start though! You have a great concept (which is the most important part), just a matter of executing it!

The e is made using paths, no typeface... It was more stylized but he wanted it more basic..

hey hon,

i think you are stuck because everything is "weighted" the same (not sure if thats correct english). you have 3 elements and should put the emphasis on one: if you go 3D like suggested here, you should put the puck more in front and maybe let the font also "stand" in the room (=perspectivly getting smaller on one side)

Nice advancement on the original. Great work on the 'e' with the colour incorporated into it. It really does accentuate it and I see why the client would be happy, having the 'e' as the focal point as he was looking for.
I like the font better in your finished product too, as to the original.

Well done

Cheers
