My desktop is boring

Does anyone know of any good web pages to go to and/or programs to use to customize my desktop?? Also i am looking for ways to speed up my powerbook.

Not sure if you mean "mod" your desktop or just replace the wallpaper if it is the latter check out http://www.deviantart.com or http://www.theapplecollection.com for wallpapers. As for modding your desktop this is a good place to start:

yea, themes like that at resexcellence will require shapeshifter which changes your macs theme, candybar is also a good app for changing icons like the trash and such. interfacelift.com is also a good place for wallpapers and icons, iconfactory.com is good for some icons, macdesktops.com also has a lot of good wallpapers.

I think you're looking for shapeshifter (like macman said above):

It lets you customize background (*not hard) and icon sets and the menu bars and all sorts of wacky stuff...I think the easiest Icon editor alone is candybar (once again a quick macman call):
