Is it just black and white line work? You might try out Cocoapotrace. index

The site is in Japanese, but the application is in English. Works great for vectorizing your rasters / bitmaps. I know a few pro designers that swear by it.

I don't know if it helps, but Inkscape can vectorize bitmap files.
