Can I go from my Mac to a mac formatted iPhoto library via a PC?

I used to have an external drive hooked up to my mac with all my photo's which I accessed using iPhoto from the mac.
I moved the mac formatted firewire external drive to our Dell.
I made it a shared drive on the PC.
I would like my iPhoto to use this library. I can mount the HD to my mac by connecting to my MSHOME network, but I can't seem to get iPhoto to recognize it is a Mac formatted HD with a complete iPhoto library. Help.

Can I go from my Mac to a mac formatted iPhoto library via a PC?

You can point iPhoto to he new location by pressing the option key when the program starts up
