Units & Increments Issues (InDesign CS4)

I'm having trouble setting millimeters to the default in InDesign CS4 - in Preferences > Units & Increments, I have both Horizontal & Vertical set to millimeters, yet everything is coming up in points. Does anyone know how to solve this?

You have to set the preferences when you first open InDesign, with no documents open. Then quit InDesign and relaunch it, your settings should be set.
