Whats the best program for making patches?

Mac Specs: Macbook Unibody 2.0ghz, 4GB, 500GB HDD. 32GB 4th Gen iPhone (Verizon)

Well, the title says it all. I am needing to make patches for my team and have to have a good program to do so, what would you recommend? It want it to be easy to use, but still powerful enough to do what it needs to! I will be using a 2.0ghz MB Unibody.
