I purchased my Imac & left the 'windows world' for good last April.
I am very happy I made the switch, however I still occasionally need help from more experienced Mac users. I do lots of scanning. I like to personalize my scans with a 'tag' & also add text to some of them. To do this with windows, I'd simply open the scan with 'paint' & add the text, or choose 'insert' items & add my 'tag' I haven't figured out how to do this with my Mac & would really appreciate any help. Thanks in advance! Steve |

It sounds as though you want a document management app with some editing functionality thrown in.
Check out yep, or search for similar apps: Yep |

Update:
scathe, I tried gimp. Downloaded from c/net. But once installed, it wouldn't 'start? Not sure what you meant by property. By tag, I meant logo as you stated. See example pics below. louishen, you recommended Seashore. I downloaded, installed & tried it. The program is fine, but it I'm still not able to add text or insert tag/logo aptmunich, I didn't try 'yep' because I read some negative reviews. dbnoise, I not doubting you, but I tried adding text in 'preview' No luck! I'm pretty sure all of you that were nice enough to reply, know what I'm trying to accomplish here, but just in case you don't, I'm going to post links to a couple of scans I did with my old pc to make sure everyone knows exactly what I'm trying to do. Thanks Again! Here's a scan of Ashley Judd. This is an example of how I was able to 'add text' to a scan/file. ![]() Here's a scan of a Dana Plato autographed picture I purchased years ago. This is an example of how I was able to 'insert a pic/tag' into a scan/file RIP Dana ![]() ![]() This is my newest scan. I use the 'annotate' feature in 'preview' mode but I'm only able to get the 'red circle' no text or inserting of a small tag like those in the scan above. ![]() Please, reply if you have any ideas or might know someone who does. This is driving me nuts!! Steve |

Which version of Gimp did you download?
Here's the official site for Mac, just choose Tiger or Leopard OS Download Someolder versions will not work in Leopard Cheers ![]() Hugh A little knowledge is a dangerous thing. Warning - this user has only a little knowledge

ATTN;Hugh
Thanks for the gimp advice, but I don't want to download that program again. ATTN; Db "add annotate to the toolbar, and then click and hold the annotate button and select note" I did that Db, and I can now add text. Thanks! But what I really wanted was to be able to add the 'Scanned By Netstar' logo/tag But I still can't insert an image ![]() I just can't believe something so simple, that I was able to effortlessly figure out myself using windows XP, is so perplexing on a mac I'll keep plugging away Thanks to all who replied

OK, give Picmark a go - it's small, free and can put any picture or logo on as a watermark - Download PicMark 2.2 - A powerful tool, designed to automatically apply watermarks to big amounts of pictures - Softpedia .
Might do the trick for you Cheers ![]() Hugh A little knowledge is a dangerous thing. Warning - this user has only a little knowledge

Update:
I finally ended up using a program called 'Paintbrush' Makes adding text very easy. Still can't insert my tags, but text ok for now. Thanks for all the replies ![]() This is the best Mac forum I've found by far. I posted the same question at the 'apple insider' forum and got zero replies. ATTN: scathe Scanning is just something I enjoy. I don't 'use' the scans for anything, There's forums out there specifically for scanners. I scan all sorts of things. One of my nieces sent me a thank you card recently. It had three kittens on the front. I scanned, personalized it, & sent it to her to use as wallpaper on her laptop. She was absolutely elated! I also scan important documents like, my quarterly employee stock purchase info, my yearly social security statement, my yearly pension statement etc. Then once a year I burn them to cd & put them in my safety deposit box. I think what you are looking for is something along the lines of ACDsee Photo Manager. It allows you to "tag" by category, by keyword, date etc as you import photos from a scan, memory or CD/DVD.
Unfortunately- Photo Manager is not available for mac. But..... The good news is that there is going to be a beta trial for the Pro version for mac. You can read about it here: ACDSee Photo Software |

easilyscan as you found out you can add TEXT to Preview easy, but you can add a Logo or Graphic also, just us Copy and Paste. Open up the graphic file you want to use and click Command C then Paste on your open scanned pic and click Command V. From there you can drag and move around and resize the graphic till you get what you want....
