Pictures gone after installing Aperture!!

Got my wife Aperture for Christmas her G5 didn't have enough RAM to run Aperture so I got a 1GB card we put it in and installed Aperture. As Aperture was importing the pics from iPhoto the computer froze and she did a force quit. When she tried to do it again the pics were all gone. She was able to find some in the iPhoto library but almost all of the pics are gone!!
Any help is appreciated!
