I have an event in Iphoto that has 192 photos. I would like to make a copy of the event so that I can manipulate the images for a slide show but still have the full event left intact so that I can trash the manipulated event and still have the original to retry later if I want. The maching has done a backup using time machine. Am I good to go and the event will still be there to reaccess. Any thoughts would be appreciated.

I'd just select the event, then under edit (not at the mac right now so can't check) or file, and choose "create new event from selection". Or, simply make an album of the event photos, and do your slideshow from that.
