Need some help in illustrator

what I'm trying to do is get the soccer ball in the triangle like a mask so the sides of the ball aren't showing but the ball is within it. I have tried for 2 hours and honestly im stumped can anyone help?

Create a duplicate copy of the triangle shape and paste in front. Send the soccer ball to the back, then select the back copy of the triangle and the soccer ball and right click -> create clipping mask.
