Airport Disconnects Randomly

Hello, within the past month my airport card has learned a new trick, it will disconnect from my home WI-FI. It will search for WI-FI, for 10-20 seconds then find my WI-FI and connect right away. This is not a huge problem, but a very annoying one, as Hulu will stop streaming, and Facebook will not work. I attached a screen shot of the console messages i get when ever this happens
Any help would be much appreciated!

Slow Wireless MAC Domain Login

All of our wireless MACbooks have about a 25 minute lag time logging onto the domain.

Our Windows Server 2003 DC is on subnet mask 255.255.255.0, gateway 10.120.18.1

I've noticed that when DHCP grabs an IP it gets:
10.148.17.177
255.255.248.0 <-Different subnet from DC
10.148.16.1 <-Different Gateway from DC

And the login time takes about 25 minutes

If I connect the Ethernet, DHCP grabs the IP
10.120.18.199
255.255.255.0 <- Same as domain controller
10.120.18.1 <- Same as domain controller

And the accounts are pulled up right away

Also, all these computers are in the Reverse Lookup Zones in the DNS.

How can I fix this problem?

External HDs through airport extreme

I have two external western digital hard drives, one a couple years old and one brand new. I have both connected to an airport extreme via a USB hub.

I am using the older one as back up with time machine, it shows up under the airport on shared devices and the time machine back up seems to work fine.

However, I can't seem to get the other one to "show up" on shared devices under the airport extreme.

Same is true of an HP scanner I used to have connected directly.

Any thoughts on how to resolve?

Airport Extreme and Linksys Wireless Bridge - Will this work??

Hello Everyone,

I am moving into a new place where I will need internet connection upstairs to one system. I currently have an Airport Extreme with a switch hooked up to it for more ports. If I hook up a Linksys WET610N Wireless Bridge to the system that will be upstairs - will it be able to see the wireless connection from the Airport Extreme?

Mac mini airport card failure?

I have been experiencing problems on my Mac Mini today. Machine Name: Mac mini....

.....It cannot be seen by System Preferences. Yet in Utilities>System Profiler>Network> Airport Card...No information found.

Then in ...Utilities>System Profiler>Network>Locations ...it sees the Airport Card... AirPort:

Best Home network Setup Please

I am new to MACS. I have an oid G Router now with cable internet service. I am weaning away from PCs in our home. I have 3 Powerbooks and getting ready to add a MBP and an iMac. I have an HP Photosmart 3300 wireless printer I wd like to keep if possible. I want to setup a kickbut Mac home network with time machine capabilities plus any other cool features that are available.

I am interested in what others have done and what an ideal config might be.

Printing through a home network

Hello all, I am experiencing a frustrating situation. I am trying to get my macbook to print to a Dell 968 AIO printer, which is installed on my home network wirelessly. I have found out that even installing Lexmark printer drivers won't work. (It actually worked for me once, and once only).

The other day, as I scoured the internet for possible solutions, I came across an apple support page, which says that sending a print job through a wireless home network is possible, no matter the printer, as long as you know the printer's URL, which needs to be inputted in the printer set-up pane on my Macbook. The instructions I followed are,.......

I first chose print and fax from system preferences.

Then clicked the plus sign to add a printer

Then right-clicked the tool bar, chose customize, and added the advanced icon to the toolbar.

Then I clicked the advanced icon, and it began searching for printers.

The instructions I followed told me to select "windows" from the "TYPE:" drop-down menu.

Under the URL: pane I now must enter the printer's URL, after the "smb://"

This is where I am at a loss. The main PC in the house is running Vista. I don't know how to find this information.

I know the URL is supposed to be something like "smb://username/computername/printername/etc. etc. etc., but it needs to be exact or no dice.

A friend also suggested to just put the printer's IP address in that field. (I know the IP address. I have it set up as a static address of 192.168.1.7)

If anyone can assist I would greatly appreciate it.

macbook being funny...

Hi folks, writing this from my phone so apologies for poor spelling, structure and the like.

I have had my macbook for two years now. The entry level white one. it's been near enough faultless minus a couple of small issues.

Recently I have had serious problems connecting to the internet. It's always been fine at home on our bt homehub but I recently came to Australia and it did not connect in Glasgow, Heathrow or Sydney airports, not even to the connection screen you normally get for bt openzone.

Now I am in Australia and it wont connect to the belkin router at the house where I am staying. My phone connects fine but not the Mac.

I'm 4 hours from a Mac store and despite airport apparently being on I'm still lost.

Help! Diagnostics is no help at all.

XBOX with TC. Not Wireless

I am in my dorm room with my TC plug into the wall with my computer wirelessly gaining internet from it. I've heard that XBOX will NOT connect to a TC wirelessly. But that isn't a problem for me since my xbox is right on top of my TC. What do i need to do in order to get my xbox live up and running?

Suddenly, proxy server only partially works

Before having installed Snow Leopard, I was either using Hotspot Shield, or just some free proxy I.P. addresses with zero problems when trying to connect to Netflix, Pandora or Slacker Radio. Now however, Hotspot Shield is just choking after being connected after about thirty seconds, and web pages will only open after it disconnects, YET.. it's not truly disconnected unless I totally exit the program. And even then, at times, it won't exit because it's stuck in some sort of connection limbo. I can only force quit it.

There will be a time to time instance though, where I'm able to have it connect to the netflix server and get it to the point of where it's querying the Movie server (for a play now movie) but then it will just hang on the red screen. And theeen... I can futz with it a bit, by disconnecting and reconnecting and then refreshing the page, and it MIGHT actually work.

As for manually configuring a proxy server, I've done this many times with success, and the thing is.. it actually still works for sites such as this one, and other regular websites, but, Netflix also just gets to the point of where it's loading the movie, and never gets any further.

I've tried creating another 'location' in Network settings, as well as configuring the proxy settings in both OS X preferences AND in Firefox. I've tried it all. Nothing seems to get through to the Netflix servers.

I've looked at 'the google' for anything pertaining to SL and proxy issues, and have found some relevant information, but nothing that exactly matches what I'm experiencing.

So if anybody has any useful advice or info, I'd love to get your feedback before re installing plain Ol' Leopard again, just to see if SL truly is the issue.

Trouble Networking Mac to Win 7

If there is anyone out there that can help me with this problem that would be great. I purchased a new PC in August and my wife purchased a Macbook pro a week later. I also have a wireless router. The Macbook is connected to the network wirelessly and the PC connection is wired. Up until recently I couldn't get either computer to "see" each other. I found that I had to make a reg edit to my PC now running Win 7 in order for me to login to the Mac from the PC. I cannot however see the PC from the Macbook. I can't do anything on the network from the Mac except browse the internet. I am running Snow Leopard on the MacBook Pro. My final goal here is to be able to print from my MacBook . The printer is connected to the PC. I have installed the Mac drivers on the MacBook. Since I cannot see the PC from the Mac at all I figured that should be first then after I get them seeing each other I can move on to printing. I will take ANY suggestions. I am quite frustrated on this project and since I am a full time IT Support student and work a full time job this project has been constantly been pushed to the back burner. I now turn it over to you. Thanks and I will check back daily to answer ANY questions.:D

G4 Quicksilver and Internal Modem Problems

I helped a friend get a used Mac. G4 Quicksilver. Got it upgraded to Mac OSX 10.5.8. After upgrading two things happened: one the CD tray door will not open on its own. If I go to Disk Utility, I can select the CD player and use that utility to open tray. CD works to burn and play disks and a gentle nudge will close the tray. But door will not open on its own. Then my friend due to his location being beyond cable or dsl options, must use dial up. I have tried every which way to configure the internet connection with Network Assistant. All to no avail. So I thought well maybe the modem is dead. However, I can fax from the modem without any difficulty. So can only part of the modem be dead? Are there any issues with version 10.5.8 not being compatible with an internal modem?

extending an extreme network

Hello all, i would like to extend my airport extreme network by adding 1 or 2 airport express bases. My question is how? Do i just plug in the bases and config in the utility of the extreme, or do i have to set up the bases separately? My extreme is connected to my dsl modem i plan on adding an i Mac & mac books to the network and i want to have excellent coverage in my home network so that i can share files easily with my macs & 1 win7 pc. set up will be: 1 iMac 27in, 1 mac book pro, 1 1.83intel mini, 1 win7 pc. thanks for reading
