this would be really useful as I have my most frequent bookmarks organized by icons:

perhaps there's a way to make my own, but I'm not in the know-how on that

Since you're using Firefox, you can do this using this method:

Go to some site that has a site icon (Favicon), and save it as a bookmark. Re-load the same page so that the bookmark will get that site's icon.

Now right-click that bookmark > Properties.

Change the Location to http://www.mac-forums.com/forums/

And there you go, you've got a bookmark to Mac-Forums with a site icon!

This is a sort of bug in Firefox... well, not so much a bug, but perhaps just quirky behavior.

It will preserve the bookmark's icon until you save another bookmark of the same Location and re-load that page... and only if that page now has an icon. But Mac-Forums doesn't have an icon anyway.

Oh yeah, you might want to choose a site that has a site icon that you want for the Mac-Forums bookmark in the first place though. ;p

thanks

I forgot you could do that. I guess I knew, but I didn't put it together correctly.

it's still be nice to have our own icon here

a red outlined apple symbol with a green leaf would be perfect.

the only reason I don't use Safari is because I love using icons

it's like having a dock for your browser . . . you know what I mean

I don't see "favicon.ico" in the source code anywhere either.

That's probably why in Firefox, I couldn't make the icon appear even when I "Shift Reload."
And Firefox usually NEVER has trouble getting the latest icon.

I was only able to make it appear after clearing the Cache.

I get the icon in the Address Bar in FF2, but it won't show up in any bookmark menus, or on the bookmark bar.

I judge you when you use poor grammar.

Load http://www.mac-forums.com/forums/

The icon should appear in the Location Bar.

Now make a bookmark.

Then load that bookmark once. The bookmark should now have the icon.

Remain,
I tried that, no joy. It's not in the source code. So it's probably a fluke that it works otherwise! Or a non-standard method is being used.

I'm using Firefox though. Are you using Firefox or Safari?

If it's Firefox, then by all means, it should appear after clearing the Cache.
