captcha is really annoying, is it neccessary

hello

Great forum, but why has it got captcha every time you post or search the forum.

It is really annoying and not really necessary. I visit lots of other large forums but none of them have captcha for REGISTERED members.

It's part of our spam prevention system. After a few posts, it will go away.

Sorry to inconvenience you. But I'm sure most of members would say that spammers are more annoying than having to deal with captchas for a few posts.

It's hard to keep up with spam in a forum with such a huge volume of posts; I think you've got to "cut them some slack."

Nope, that's not our policy. And I think this thread has outlived its usefulness.

After a few posts, it will go away. Liquid and computers don't mix. It might seem simple, but we see an incredible amount of people post here about spills. Keep drinks and other liquids away from your expensive electronics!
