when using [img] tags to post a pic from a remote host, how does one code it to resize said picture at the same time?

There is no code to resize it.
You will have to do that offline before you upload it or use a photo management site to do that before you use the [img] tags.

Old thread but use Imageshack.us which uploads, hosts and can resize images for you.
