Western Union has scam written all over it. Doesn't matter what you sold before or not. yes paypal is crappy company but in terms of payment of choice for online transactions it can't be beat. If you want to sell it, offer paypal or put it on local craigslist for cash.
Paypal offers protection for buyers. The way i use it is I don't pay via paypal balance or checking account. I always use my credit card as payment method. This has saved me a few times. Once seller never shipped the item after I bought it. I contacted paypal and they pretty much told me "sorry but seller doesn't have any funds and we are unable to get anything back. Better luck next time". Simple 5 minute call to my credit card company got me my $1500 back.
Yup sell locally if you dont want to use paypal. Just like your afraid to get scammed with paypal the buyer is afraid to get scammed with western union. Cash is your only option.
I just wanted to say that peoples comments here have really stopped me from selling what should of been a really simple transaction... people are now hesitant of using Western Union... when you have even more proof on paper than Paypal, the seller has to show Driver's License which is recorded in order to pick up the money...
Paypal is the worst... let me give you a scenario here whats to stop me from setting up a paypal confirming an account, then selling you an Imac for lets say over 1,000 then accepting your money, taking the funds out of a temp bank account, then closing it... then last to boot I fed ex you a box with 2 bricks inside... and guess what paypal Would not be able to do a **** thing...
So Paypal is no better than anything... I will sell my phone locally no problem, but its not fair everyone commenting on me being a scammer when Ive been here over a year, gotten positive feeback on good seller list and I held a Raffle here for john who has Cancer and gave away an IPOD, the admins here were not on;y involved they contributed... what more legit proof then that does everyone need..
Im venting but I think it stinks how I was sabotaged yet a guy who makes a new account here sells a laptop just cause he uses paypal... unfair..
