Aquariums Made out of iMacs
I am building several aquariums out of old iMacs.
I started this hobby by building one for myself. Everyone thought it was soo cool so I decided to make more.
An iMac aquarium makes a great decoration for the home or office of any mac fan.
I designed the tank that sits inside of the iMac case to be as large as possible (3.5 gallons!). A CRT iMac is not a square computer so the tank on the inside is far from being just a square tank. The face is curved or bubbled out slightly to fit better where the CRT screen would be. This reduces the unsightly gap there would be between the tank and the frame of the computr case if the face (screen side) of the tank were just flat. I had my design for the tank manufactured by a plastics company for maximum quality and consistency. I test each tank to be sure there are no leaks.
I install the tank, a filter, and a light. There is a switch on the back of the case to turn the light on and off. The filter and the light are connected to one 6 foot cord which exits out of the original power cord hole. This way you only have to use one electrical outlet to power 2 things!
The top of the case easily lifts off so you can access the inside of the aquarium.
I have several colors, they are all subject to availability.
I buff and polish them to make them look as shiny and new as possible.

The filter and light operate on North American standard 110-120V with a 2 prong type "A" electrical plug. Outlet plug adapters are available to transform the voltage as well as the type of plug used. Wikipedia has good information on domestic AC power plugs and sockets.
That's an amazing idea good for you. I hope you do very well with this idea.
I would buy one but the last time I had a fish tank, well lets just say that was the last time I had a fish tank.

I believe the G4 iMacs have flat panel screens. I am making one out of an old 17" CRT Studio Display. It will be interesting to see if the base can support the weight of the water. I think it should.
