This is a picture of the Russian Navy tall-mast training ship Pallada from Vladivostok, leaving town. It's listed in the Guinness Book of World Records as the fastest sailing ship (top speed 18 knots).
I have many photos from its stay, including some brief time I spent onboard and a few shots of the young crew in their splendid Russian Navy uniforms, but I could only pick one so I figured a shot of it actually in motion would be best. The boat itself is 108m (354.33 ft), counting the long bow it's 119m (390.4 ft). Pallada.jpg |

I'll pm you about it. Don't want to take the thread too far off topic. But I'll do it a bit later. Need to do a bunch of stuff.

I could have almost cried over this one!
My wife and I were at a local resort last month (Mount Magazine) and I ran into a guy about to go Hang Gliding. I had never seen it up close and he agreed to let me shoot his flight. Everything went well into about a third of the way through when I switched to my 70-300mm zoom. The last time I had used it was to shoot the Moon and even though I was shooting f8 and 200 ISO in Aperture priority on my Nikon D5000 when I changed lenses it defaulted to the previous setting on the lens (f22). I shot about a dozen frames before I noticed; this one would have been my favorite other than the 1/160 shutter causing blur.
Of course, I know everything . . . I just can't remember it all at once.
