How can i convert a non quick time file???

is there a piece of software that would convert any type of video file to quicktime??
We are trying to put a dvd file on a mac for display purposes but it wont acept any thing other than a quicktime file. Can anybody help me pls???

there are several things, but for what you're looking do to, I would suggest using VLC .. it wil play that quicktime doesnt have the codec for
