I'm new to the whole atv thing and a friend gave me the original version. With the new updates and all, is there really any significant difference between the two? And before you respond, I have a PS3 streaming Netflix....

Since the "New Updates" weren't released for the ATV 1, I'm not sure what your friend thinks he sold you. One thing is for sure though, it's not the latest ATV 2 software.
