Apple will license its FairPlay copy-protection technology to the studio for DVD movie releases. This means that FOX will include iTunes-formatted versions of the movie on the disc so you can view it on your iPod/iPhone.

At last, Apple are licensing FairPlay

Not a huge fan of DRM myself, but one of the obstacles media companies have always cited as a reason for no apple service for their download products is the fact that Apple will not license its own DRM

Microsoft is being allowed to dominate the movie / TV download services because of this.

I only hope Apple will let the BBC use it so I can actually download programs like Windows users already can

I would be a bit surprised if Apple rents movies. Jobs has been quite vocal on his stance against media rental services like this and subscription music services.
