It seems there are a lot of users experiencing problems with Back to My Mac, one of the most talked about new features included in Leopard.

According to this article, Apple is aware that there are problems and says a fix is on the way.

Apple mentions that the problems apparently come from a lack of "compatibility with home-based routers and various network environments".

Funny, I've never even heard of this feature!

I'm still waiting for them to hook up Time Machine for network backup. They completely lied about this - it was on their pre-release Leopard page and now it's gone. I went out and bought an Apple router just for that purpose, come to find out they dropped it on release. Serves me right for buying hardware for an unreleased feature lol.

This is Back to My Mac.

Some people were pretty excited about this new feature. You need a .Mac account for this.

Hmm so it's basically like screen sharing in iChat but you don't have to have another person there? Seems like it would beat VNC. Can I hook up my wife's Dot Mac account without syncing all of her stuff to my computer?

Can't say I know all that much about it except from what I linked you to. I am still on OS X 10.4.11 Tiger myself. Will eventually go to Leopard but I am not in a hurry, especially when I see stories like these.

Well it's always best to wait for several months after a major update release to tackle a new version of an OS. Everyone had fits and starts when M$ released Vista...now things seem to be going better (my girlfriend's desktop isn't having issues anymore, other than I can't use it quickly like I can my XP desktop). So I know we're waiting here at YourMacStore.com to install it after the 1st of 2008.

I have actually been pretty impressed, I havent switched to leopard yet either, for the same reasons as above, my computer is running famously and dont want to disturb it, but i was expecting far more problems than have been revealed, this .mac issue wouldnt really affect so there is really very little to worry about. But ill stick with tiger for the time being

I dont see the need to upgrade from Tiger, it does all I want, I will wait until I upgrade to a new MacBook when that comes out! and then only if they have done something about the sharp edges.

This is weird, because I have Leopard and Back To My Mac and I am not having any problems yet. The article mentioned wireless, and the problems with it, but both of my computers are connected to different wireless networks when I actually utilize the Back To My Mac Features.

I guess I am just lucky.
