Here are a roundup of the announcements from today's WWDC...

PowerMacs

Apple announced the kick-a** PowerMac G5s today. Here's a link to the specs.

Prices:
$1,999: Single 1.6GHz G5, 800MHz Bus, SuperDrive, 3 PCI, 80GB S-ATA HD
$2,399: Single 1.8GHz G5, 900MHz Bus, SuperDrive, 3 PCI-X, 160GB S-ATA HD
$2,999: Dual 2.0GHz G5, 1GHz Bus, SuperDrive, 3 PCI-X, 160GB S-ATA HD

They will be available in August.

Safari Final
Safari 1.0 is released today. The final version is v85 and can be downloaded from here. Seems to be pretty compatible with most sites...it even works now with papajohns.com

Panther
OSX 10.3, codenamed Panther, was previewed today. Here is a link to the official information. It will be a $129 upgrade and it definitely looks worth it!

Miscellaneous
There were several miscellaneous announcements today including an updated iChat client, an Apple pc camera, and an updated G4 PowerMac. Check out http://www.maccentral.com for details.

Awesome prices. Didn't think I was gonna be able to get one of these, but now it looks like I can! WooHoo! Now I just gotta save up for a monitor so I can get the full effect of digital video.

hopefully Apple would let you upgrade from any version of 10. Jaguar came as an upgrade and a full install, so even if you never had 10 on there you could install Jag. But Apple doesn't have that info posted yet, so i guess we'll have to wait and see

Looking at Apple's past experiences, I think Panther will be like Jaguar. A full install with an upgrade option. It would be the best solution. Most Unix vendors do it that way.
