Virtual PC is coming out soon, but who knows when; Microsoft has delayed it's relase for some reason.

Anyway, so what's so great about virtual PC 7 -- not too much, but a few features are interesting (I heard these were the features, I can't confirm it).

- runs faster
- runs on G5 computers
- and the funnest of all: It'll actually use the graphic cards directly, instead of through and emulator. What does that mean? 3D and video stuff -- aka, you can now play games that are PC based.

I don't play a lot of games, just sometimes -- but I know one of the reasons a lot of people don't switch is because they cry and whine that they like the mac, but they want the PC games. So, of course, the gamers don't switch as often and then they cry about XP crashing when they run a game.

I think it'd be good if mac hit the game market. If VPC 7 worked for pc games, that'd be cool.

One of the reasons VPC is slow is because of the video -- XP is very slow on VPC simply because of the video memory/speed it requires to run faster. And currently, VPC 6 doesn't support what the video cards have to offer in mac systems.

We live in a world, unfortunaltly, where Windows has to be used, especially in some work places, or with certain games. I think VPC is a good idea, because you get your good mac computer, and if you need to use windows for something (like a game, or some special windows only program), then you have windows there and ready. You can have the best of both words on one computer. A Mac can do that, which means it even cooler.

VPC should be pretty cool...I've been telling all the people who want to switch, but want to play Doz games, to keep their pc, get a mac, and when VPC 7 comes out, get that and trash the PC!

Originally VPC was designed so MacUsers could access files on Application that were only found on the PC Platform. So.... call me old-fart, if you wanna be a serious game player, then i'd stick with a Real PC rather than a emulator.

Having VPC utilizing the VideoCard directly would be great news for 3D Modelers and Animators alike, especially those 3DStudioMax users who have since turned to the Mac platform but discovered Maya Unlimited a pain to learn and use.

Personally, i'd love to start using 3DSMax again....

Just my 2¢, mind.
