Apple on Wednesday updated its productivity suite, AppleWorks, to version 6.2.7 for Mac OS X, 6.2.5 for Mac OS 9 and 6.2.1 for Windows. The company also released a new version their AirPort wireless networking software.

Available for download from Apple's Web site, AppleWorks 6.2.7 for Mac OS X provides improvements to the presentation module, AppleScript, web content searching, printing, label printing, table support and spell checking with user added words. The update also provides better recognition and handling of Office 97 and Office 2000 files, improved support for multimedia files in database documents, improved web template downloading over slow internet connections, improved spreadsheet module, as well as enhanced support for documents that contain links. This version also supports web-based templates and clipart on networks using proxy servers.

The update for Mac OS 9 provides improvements to spreadsheet Auto-Calculation as well as improved support for multimedia files in database documents. The Windows AppleWorks update provides improvements to spreadsheet Auto-Calculation.

Apple also released tonight AirPort Software 3.0.4, which includes the recently released AirPort Extreme Base Station firmware 5.0.4. According to Apple the update is recommended for all customers with French AirPort Extreme Base Stations or if your AirPort Extreme Base Station stops responding after being on a busy Ethernet Network.

AirPort 3.0.4 is available from the Software update control panel.
