Switching

Hmm.....This gives me somthing to think about..... I was thinking of switching in about July 04..... Do you think they will have the intel chips by then....or should I just wait a little longer?????

I'm kinda itching to get a new Mac.

I don't really see Apple going Intel anytime in the next couple years.

IBM is creating some really powerful chips for Apple. There would be no reason to go Intel at the moment.

Looks like this rumour and the one about PB upgrades circa superbowl sunday are just plain bunk.

well apple did go to a new chip... called the G5

superbowl.. well if u read the 20th anni thread or "what do you hope to see in 2004" thread ude see that I predict the PB G5 summer 2005 or later..

we were thinking on the superbowl a new anni mac only our for a while (much like the last 20th apple)

Alright. I am both a pc and a mac user. I have only been a mac user for about a year. So I grew up building my own pc's. I'd have to say with my experience, AMD treated me better. All intel chips I've had have seemed much slower...I'm running a thunderbird 1800+ in my pc right now...I think......and it's awesome. My parents just bought a dell with a p4...2.somethign....and I can't stand it compared to my pc. then there is my mac. I love mac, but it's more for their design and their software and os. So, I would hope that they go with AMD, but they'll make intel work beautifully. Or at least they'd better. I have a whole life ahead of me with mac. They stolen my heart, so they'd better not break it.

This is old.. they already went with IBM.. and intel is only better than AMD because AMD is proven to crash more.

why Intel!? they became the ***** CPU long ago... wouldnt AMD be a wiser choice if they are dumping motorola, and they can just choose?
I agree, I think Intel has a monopoly on the market, a monopoly ruled by cheap, crappy, HOT, low quality CPU's. I wish they would go with AMD dual core CPU's... 128 bit!

Before you post, please check the date on the last post. It is not polite to resurrect a thread that has not seen activity in over a year.

... This thread, which started 2 years ago, suggested Apple would move to Intel in 18 months (six months ago). Apple is not moving to Intel, nor are the moving to AMD. This is Dvorak making a wildly speculative statement and being wrong.
