I'd surely like to see such an Apple device, but [rant] this patent-everything-that-we-can-think-of and then sue anyone that does anything vaguely like it is getting out of hand. There are already many gesture input methods in use right now. The US patent system seems to have become badly broken with regards to computer technologies-- think of Amazon having a patent on "one click ordering", and the current debacle with the blackberry, where a company that couldn't come out with a decent product is suing RIM because they had a wireless e-mail patent.[/rant]

Enough of that though, can't wait to see what Apple comes up with, as always, it's sure to be something cool.

To my knowledge, there are no existing systems that involve gestures by the hands against a Trackpad, with multiple fingers, as described in the patent.

It's not like they're trying to patent Opera's up-and-over motions.
