I sent a text from my Mac to my wife's iPhone last night. Closed the lid and later when she replied, it came up on my iPhone. Very cool.

Now, if it just supported MSN chat, it could replace Adium altogether for me. Maybe it's time I just migrated over to Google Talk (or heaven forbid.... AOL).
Installed it last night. Love it. Everything iChat is and of course messaging with apples devices also.

On the MSN I have not tried it but I think there might be a way through either jabber. Will see if I can find the instructions again.

I think I'm signed in with an AIM account that I made years ago, but never really used.

Does anyone know how I can add buddies or even view my buddy list? Everything seems grayed out.

Dennis - I think you were on my buddy list at one time or another. Shouldn't I be able to see you in Messages?

Liquid and computers don't mix. It might seem simple, but we see an incredible amount of people post here about spills. Keep drinks and other liquids away from your expensive electronics!

Just out of curiosity - would you mind trying to send me a message via AIM under Messages? You should be able to find me as 'cwa107'.

Yeah - I had closed my lid at one point. Now, I can't seem to get it to go back online (at least for AIM - for iMessages, it's up). Seems like it's still pretty buggy. And user-friendliness (at least for AIM and other non-iMessages protocols) is pretty weak.

Don't know what to say as it's working great here. I hate AIMs client in fact and prefer iChat to Adium also. I have been using AIM on iChat since 10.2 and it's never let me down. Check the security settings for AIM in Messages. At one point in iChat in Lion only I was having issues when SSL was checked but it's working fine again. It was just for one day.

Was going to post the same, but I wasn't sure it was within the Community Guidelines. Anyhow, good to know. The same was possible with Lion on Solo and "non-2 Duos" in the Dev release, but it was plugged in the final release if I recall.

I would hope it's not as the Lion fix was mentioned here many times. Once by me. It's not fair to disable a machine that works 100% when people out there are so broke. No piracy is involved. Only one line in a file. If what I posted is wrong, I will just take off as I feel this is robbery to make poor people buy a new Mac every 2 years to run the new features and probably iCloud that will be changed and not run on older macs. Windows 7 runs great on some quite old PC hardware.

For an example I Just installed 7 for a friend on an old Pentium D Dell Dimension E510 which is very old. Works GREAT and quite fast and no tricks. Just worked.

Actually the Leopard patch for non supported G4s has been posted here many times along with a url to the App to make it run. It's called Leopard Assist.
