Sky have had many years of tv experiance in this field.Their coverage is second to non, including games in 3D,which look amazing I have to say (Brother-in-law and sister) have a 3D set.If Apple,or Google, for that matter, intend a serious bid to the (English) Football League, and are successful, then they will have to pay more than the 1.6b.Sky have paid. Will it happen. From a personal viewpoint,I would not object.WILL it happen? Probably not.Too much politics involved I'm afraid.

No monopoly can be to our advantage however good Sky may be. The commentary method of continual drivel commentary, non stop talk, is what bugs me.
Would prefer to watch and concentrate on the match and why does it need two commentators. Just a point of view.
When Sky first started it was possible to use a choice to just hear the ground sound without commentary.
I switch over to another source from another Country with English commentary. Much better
Should be easy with digital but not available now, the Sky alternative that is

Also remember "sound choice",in the "early days",and totally agree with you P.P that commentary drivel,is very annoying.Hate it when commentators "shout",or "state the obvious".
Also do not like a monopoly, but the only alternative is ESBN,who have a handful of "live" games per season.
