Sweet. It has been a little over a year since the release of the AppleTV2.
But I think the first gen AppleTV was out for like 4 years before an upgrade, haha.

I'm excited to see what the new model will bring to us.

I am excited to finally hear about Apple TV3 . This is exactly how I found out that the AE5 was coming out.

 24" iMac, 3.06GHz C2D, 4GB RAM, 1TB HDD, 10.6.8

Does it have to be the AppleTV as we know it, or can it be the rumored tv from Apple that's been going around?

JMHO, but there's not enough margin and too many competitors for Apple to get into the "real" Apple TV market. It'll be another small box just like we have now.
