Apple only SEEMS like a rapid-fire technology company. In fact, they tend to roll out updates rather slowly. I think it's a safe bet that the Apple TV will get a future update with 1080p.

I bet real soon since the new iPhone with iOS5 will have mirroring through the Apple TV.

How long has it been since the Apple TV was last updated? I'd say that's a bigger indicator of when the next update will be.

Last update software, or last update to the hardware?

There was a software update that mine downloaded last month, but the last time they changed up the hardware was a year ago when they released the "hockey puck."
