Steve Jobs grossly exaggerated Android tablet app market size
AppleInsider | Steve Jobs grossly exaggerated Android tablet app market size
Quote:
While introducing iPad 2 last month, Apple's chief executive Steve Jobs described the competitive market for tablet apps on Google's Android 3.0 Honeycomb as having "at most 100 apps." The actual Android catalog appears to be closer to 17.

Yeah, anyone in the know at the time knew that Android had virtually no apps at that time, but I think Apple was just hedging their bets in case some developers were quickly rolling out some crummy apps right after Xoom release.

Even over estimated at 100 apps, the point was made.

When you have thousands of apps available on the market, as well as hundreds of other available via different source on the iphone/iOS devices, the difference of 17-100 makes no difference. I have a feeling though, that he might have stated 100 due to HC applications that are still in production, but not available to customers. That has to be true, because they aren't just going to pop up out of nowhere.
