Google Editions, the search giant's entry into the e-book market, is in the "final stages," and is set to debut by the end of the year, posing a threat to Apple's new iBookstore, according to a new report.

They won't gain any 20% market share quickly unless it is simple to purchase and import into the ereaders (device and/or app). There is not any of us (maybe I should say very few) that are going to give up the conveniences we have inside our apps of being able to adjust brightness, font, font size, margin, background and text color, bookmarks, auto syncing between devices, note taking, etc.... in order to go back to reading from a browser to save a dollar or two.

We'll have to see what sort of implementation they have before they become a player in this market.

I read some place today that the iPad is running a very chose second with Amazon and their Kindle. So, it would appear that if Google is going to catch up with the two heavies they are going to have to come up with something very special.
