These ads do little to tell me what a Mac does and how it's different. This newest ad tells me absolutely nothing about Macs and if I'm looking to buy a new computer, I don't want useless ads that tell me nothing about your product. If I knew nothing about computers, I can say with confidence that I would have walked away from that commercial having learned absolutely nothing about computers. Last time I checked, ads are supposed to help me understand a product and not leave me with more questions than I had before. At what point in this ad was the average person supposed to learn something about Macs?
I approve.
I wouldn't mind this ad so much IF it stopped at Vista. I like XP (I'm even on it now in Bootcamp), and every Windows OS before that was when mac was using OS9 and earlier.
Nothing against macs but I hated those OS's, for work and for play.

Agreed after NT came out. Before that at least for work I much preferred the OS7-9 and earlier. Main thing after NT was released with true Preemptive Multitasking and Non Shared memory (each application running in it's own memory space), older Mac OS started to show it's age and crashed a lot more than a system without shared memory. Microsoft said 95 had Preemptive Multitasking but it really did not work that well. After Windows 2k was release with a much nicer interface, Apple had do something for sure and did with OSX.
I think, like I said in another post, some of Apples ads do more damage than good making the Mac look like a play toy and not a computer that does serious work.

Where do you see this same thing...Could be politics?
I wonder what Apple would be like today if they hadn't bought NeXT and brought back Steve Jobs. Would there even be an Apple?
That's a good question! I've been a "Mac Person" since 1986...and I remember the days in the "90's" when Apple wasn't doing so well, Steve Jobs had his NEXT computer (which "then" seemed like the "next" best thing in computing)...and of course "Stevie" wasn't CEO at the time...poor Mike & Gil!

=)
This issue of advertising the negatives of the competition seems to be most problematic in both the technology and automotive industries (politics too).

I haven't tested it, but my Dad thinks they will use Windows 7 Starter instead of Home Premium. Still, I wish Apple introduced that netbook by now!!

I thought the new Apple ad was amazing. Apple sure wooped Microsofts butt.
I agree that apple may want to consider changing up the style in their commercials sometimes but still Apple rocked it on this one.

And how might that be? How many times was OS X mentioned? Re-watch the ad and you should notice that any mention of OS X or any of its features will be non-existent (literally). What did you learn about Macs in that commercial?

I agree that nothing informative was mentioned about OS X, but for some of those who are getting fed up with Windows, this may be just the push they need to go over the edge. Curiosity is what I think Apple is betting on and that people will just want to know more and either go for it and buy a Mac, or at least get to an Apple store to check one out. I think these ads are amusing nonetheless.

I agree with that agreement. The ads are amusing, and if anyone who gets fed up with Windows will get the curious sense to check one out.
