Yeah, if it were really cheap. Windows 7 Home Premium at Best Buy costs $119.99. The basic version is even cheaper, at which point, half the stuff in Windows 7 and Vista, regardless of version, you wouldn't be able to run it on a cheap netbook! You'd be better off running some Linux distro or Windows XP if you were lucky to find a real cheap netbook.

Ah okay, thank you for correcting me on that. I didn't know much about it. I would have researched it, but I was at work on my phone, would take way too long to even be worth it. Very interesting.
These things become obnoxious after a while. Apple needs a new way to brand themselves. They just aren't funny anymore. Come on, Apple! You've only been playing these ads for like 3 years! It's time for a change in style.
Yea really. It's kinda funny. But as a user who enjoys both Snow Leopard and Windows 7, I find it sorta ridiculous. Both operating systems have their ups and downs. Apple is easier for stupid people, Windows is generally better for businesses. Most IT people prefer Windows by a long shot. It really just comes down to preference.

These ads do little to tell me what a Mac does and how it's different. This newest ad tells me absolutely nothing about Macs and if I'm looking to buy a new computer, I don't want useless ads that tell me nothing about your product. If I knew nothing about computers, I can say with confidence that I would have walked away from that commercial having learned absolutely nothing about computers. Last time I checked, ads are supposed to help me understand a product and not leave me with more questions than I had before. At what point in this ad was the average person supposed to learn something about Macs?
Exactly! They should show commercials about spaces or expose or multitouch. Those are the reasons I use SL much more than Win7. They should highlight their great features.

Windows does ads on that stuff too, I don't think they'd win many people over. Everyone is glued to their inexpensive computer that "doesn't cost $1,000" that has media software on it (pretty bad media software, but it still works).
Mac Specs: 15 Inch MacBook Pro. 2.4 GHz. 2GB RAM. 250GB Hardrive.
For undecided consumers sometimes these commercials is all they need to see to swing their vote towards Apple. This is quite easily done some humor and negative comparison.

Humour is fine if there is something concrete in the commercial. Again, there is nothing in this commercial, nor many others, that give me any sense of what a Mac can do.

Personally speaking, I think Apple missed the boat when SL was first introduced. They could have made a group of ads that focused on the fact that it's the only OS to date that actually gave back HD space! (not to mention streamline many programs already in place) How often has that ever happened or likely to ever again?

Actually the some of Apples Ad's make one believe the Mac is only for fun and not boring Spreadsheets and work! To me they are shooting themselves in the foot by doing that. People use computers to get things done also and not just for fun.

Very good point. The Mac is always positioned as the "fun, young computer" and they always neglect to mention that the Mac is like any other computer and can do both the fun and "boring". Now, they position it as the fun and young computer but they only do so by saying that they aren't the old and boring PC. So, you're right that they implicitly state that the Mac is fun and hip but never actually say why.
To be fair, Apple has had some of their commercials highlight some of their features but in these cases it's always in relation to how Windows machines don't have these features. There is no need to do this.

And I've got two Acer Aspire One netbooks, and I've run the Windows 7 Upgrade Advisor on them. The graphics card, like expected on most netbooks, the Upgrade Advisor nags about it. And to upgrade it (at least on these netbooks), requires to replace the whole mother board. Still, for most people, Windows 7 Home Premium is enough for most Windows users: WMC, Aero, and the usual stuff. Ultimate to me is OVERKILL.
