Exactly! I like knowing that PC users (please don't correct me on the PC thing) see these ads and know that people are buying Macs based on these commercials and that Microsoft has nothing to counter with.

Thanks for appreciating the funny-ness and not getting technical. Lol.

The whole PC thing is just how it is. I don't think there is a definite reason for why they use the general" PC" term just for Microsoft computers, but look through here and you will see terms defined as "PC" which don't apply to how a Mac can operate.

PC: to me? Well since both Mac OS X and Windows run on IA-32/x86-64 architecture, to me they're both PC's. Just with different OS's (and with Apple you can do so much more! )

No Apple is not wrong. Mac is a Mac. And PC is a PC. Mac is also a PC, just Apple do not say this in their ads. Apple are just not stating the obvious. Nothing wrong there. Advertisers do this kind of thing all the time.

I believe most people refer to PC as a Windows machine (duh). A PC can mean both a Mac and a Windows machine, or any "personal computer", but to the general public (in my opinion) they immediately define PC = Windows. It could also be a part of the way they are marketing their products. It could be that Apple implies that most long-term (and/or fed up) Windows users would call their computer a PC, so the ads can allow those people to compare their PC to a Mac. It would make sense, because aren't the ads targeting 'PC' users? I just think it would be best to leave out technicalities, it broadens the range of targets, so it can be understood easier by just about everyone.
But I personally do not refer to Windows machines as PC, I will usually say "Windows machine" or "Windows box".

Windoze..zzzzzzzzzzzz..snort..wha...? Oh. Windows box? More like a virus filter. LOL
For the most part, that is true. It's a bit generic, still considering that a Mac uses the same hardware as a Windows computer.

The crazy thing if I get a cheap PC netbook and vista ultimate or the W7 Ultimate at some places I'd pay more for the OS new than the computer new. And that's just so wrong.

Windoze is an old joke some OS/2 users had!
EVERY definition I have found says something like "A microcomputer designed for use by one person at a time". I'm not saying anyone here is wrong, but the general public kind of is. A PC could be running Mac OS X, a PC could be running Linux, a PC could be running Windoze, a PC could be running OS/2, a PC could be running DOS, etc.

PC=Personal Computer in the dictionary.
I can agree with this. I do not actually know how windows computers werecoined as PC. And wasn't it technically Apple that designed/produced the first actual "personal computer"? (can't do research, I'm at work on my phone someone will correct me)

Well, not really. They created the first fully-assembled circuit board with the Apple I (you had to create your own case, teletype, etc), but the first complete personal computer was the Commodore PET in 1977, followed shortly by the Apple II.
I'll keep this nice and short because I could go on about this: when will advertisers start advertising the positives of their products as opposed to "advertising" the negatives of other products. Why does Apple need to keep juxtaposing Macs and PCs as somehow a contrast between good and bad? Both suit a purpose and both should advertise their own strengths without relying on pointing out the flaws of their competition.
These ads do little to tell me what a Mac does and how it's different. This newest ad tells me absolutely nothing about Macs and if I'm looking to buy a new computer, I don't want useless ads that tell me nothing about your product. If I knew nothing about computers, I can say with confidence that I would have walked away from that commercial having learned absolutely nothing about computers. Last time I checked, ads are supposed to help me understand a product and not leave me with more questions than I had before. At what point in this ad was the average person supposed to learn something about Macs?
