Really? My Dare didn't work with bluetooth nor my Voyager. I couldn't find any drivers, either. Is it specifically LG Verizon phones, then?
Take a look on howardforums.com, it's a forum specific to hacking phones and you can usually find some Mac-specific threads. Just search for terms "LG" "Voyager" "iSync" and see what you come up with. They might not have specific drivers for the Mac, but there's usually workarounds.
even if iPhone goes over to verizon, imagine how ridiculous the monthly service charge would be
+GPS
+Visual Voicemail
just two things I thought of off the top of my head, god knows what else they'd come up with. I wouldn't be surprised if they tried to charge extra for stuff like Wifi.

Verizon will make an iPhone plan similar if not exactly like AT&T's. With Verizon's acquisition of Alltel they will also have my circle for it too. Verizon isn't as dumb as you people think. We are all consumers and they know if someone can get the same phone with a plan that's cheaper somewhere else they know the consumer will take the cheaper plan, however, if the plans are the same price, but Verizon has more features, then the consumer will take the Verizon iPhone.
I have a Verizon Blackberry, and they did not limit my bluetooth, or the connectability with my computer. I've made all my own ringtones for it, put my full mp3's on it. I can download pictures...etc...from the internet to my phone. I know some phones are limited but with a high end multi-carrier phone, such as my blackberry, they aren't stupid enough to put limitations on it.

I found your point interesting. One of the most common things I have heard about Verizon is how they limit features. That point alone has kept me from Verizon but now I wonder - does Verizon really limit features?

I guess economics and times may have changed but when I had them up untill
Nov 08 they charged me for text an Vcast on mine and my wife's Razor now
I have an I-phone she has an LG and we have more options plus 3g all for
12.00 more a month your contract may vary I liked Verizon but they did not
compete in the price for extras like AT&T did.

Most of their smartphones don't have wi-fi, just a "coincidence" I'm sure. But you'll be paying at least $13 more/mo for Visual Voicemail and GPS usage for a comparable phone. If Verizon did take the iPhone in, I'm sure they would adjust their prices to be more in line with AT&T, though.

Following additional research with industry professionals, I agree with earlier posts: Apple initially approached Verizon regarding negotiations with first iPhone agreements. However, Apple would not relinquish complete ownership of hardware components and software applications for the iPhone units.
With the number of proprietary software applications traditionally installed on their mobile units, Verizon would not agree to a complete Apple hardware and software device, which has been why Apple has been so successful in the past with their other technology platforms: Macs, Macbook (Pros), iPods and iPod Touch.
An Apple iPhone configured with Verizon proprietary software may lose the advantages of iTunes synchronization, or lose the compatibility with the iPod Touch OS.
My wife, two children and I all have Verizon cell phones, so we talk for free as long as we keep mobile-to-mobile. I wanted an iPhone to synch with my Macbook and create a MobileMe account; however, I opted for a BB Storm and with PocketMac have been happy with it so far. It took about two weeks to get used to the touchpad, and afterwards the interface has been rather smooth (even with my clunky fingers).
I think I can wait another 16-18 months if the rumors are true (which I seriously doubt). I had an iPod Touch my son is now happy with in addition to an old flip phone for audio and text.

met guy who's brother works for Apple and he claims, right now, they are in San Diego doing testing with the phone & verizon right this very moment. guy seemed credible to me.

I think he is info wrong. They are testing in CA for the next generation iphone, the signals have been picked up as Wifi and AT&T not Verizon.
"- 1st spotting of the "iPhone 2,1" device occured in early October 2008
- Usage picked up in mid-December 2008
- A few dozen distinct "iPhone 2,1" devices have been detected
- Almost exclusively located in south San Francisco Bay Area
- Both AT&T and Wi-Fi connections
PinchMedia provides iPhone developers with ad serving and analytic tracking software to embed within iPhone applications. This is how the the iPhone 2,1 devices have been detected. The iPhone 2,1 model is also found in the firmware of the iPhone 2.x firmware releases as we reported yesterday. "
