Advertising standards in the UK are much higher than in the US. Here, manufacturers can claim almost anything.
I actually think it is fair enough they should drop the claim that all parts of the internet are available, and claiming that it's the 'real' internet (Jobs' words), because without Flash, Java or any equivalent, a lot of the internet is out of reach. |

That's the difference. In America people just sue when a company claims something that isn't strictly true. In Britain we have an agency for just about everything - we don't need to sue, it's already been taken care of.

I got a bit peeved at that ad too. It showed the internet running at broadband speeds, whilst going on about how fast 3G is.
I mean, the technically minded among us would be able to ignore that, because we know better. But I'm sure there will have been a lot of people thinking, 'WOW! That looks amazingly fast, I wouldn't mind getting one of those!' But then Apple did once claim the G5 to be the 'World's Fastest Desktop Computer' too in a previous ad. |

I can understand that the people are unhappy with the add. It says "all" parts of the internet are on the iPhone, when it doesn't enable flash or java. It is mis advertising, but I agree with the above post.

I don't agree on the above last two posts, especially, #8.
If its a lie, its a lie. Its an Apple ad!!! A company that is known to be better than others. Its not a weight loose ad or any other ad that involves nature or something that you don't have 100% control over it. Its a freaking small, tiny, man made toy so what's the point to lie. These days Quality rarely exists on planet. |

I find it kind of sad that they would ban it. You know someone would have sued Apple so to save the time and hassle they must have just banned it there. Silly if you ask me. Apple I'm sure meant no harm.
Press any key to continue, or any other key to cancel. There are 10 kinds of people in the world: Those who understand binary and those who don't. |

I think they're right to ban it for that comment. I took it for granted since I already knew what it can and can't do, but if I had no idea and bought one, I'd be pretty mad about the lack of functionally compared to the commercial comment.
All Apple has to do is change the script a little, record the voiceover again and they're back on the air. "Give so much time to the improvement of yourself that you have no time to criticize others" |
