I read this article about upgrading ram on MBP http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=303491. It states that a MacBook pro can be only upgraded to 3 gigs of ram, rather than 4 gigs. But this article was written 10 months before leopard came out. And I got my laptop when leopard came out. Also, according to Apple.com, i can buy a MBP with 4 gigs of ram.

So, is it possible to install 4 gigs of ram on my MBP 2.2 GHZ (model: A1226)?

Very cheap through newegg compared to the $700 or whatever apple charges.

That article predates the Santa Rosa chipset that was released a few months ago. The Macbook Pros prior to the SR chipset had a memory limit of 3.3GB, but since there are no configurations that would yield such a number, the max was stated as 3GB. However, with the latest chipset, which evidently is the one you have, the memory limit is 4GB.

So in other words, go ahead and install 4GB of memory and just hope Apple gets around to updating that page

Just look for 200-pin DDR2 SO-DIMM PC-5300 (DDR 667 MHz)
