One of my teachers is asking me to help her fix her iBook, she she apparently dropped it quite hard, and now the cdrom tray refuses to close. (i.e., you push it closed and it doesn't latch, just pops back out, and holding it closed does not make it work when the laptop is on). I looked at it and nothing immediately appears shattered or broken.
Any ideas? |

look at the bottom of the tray. do you see http://68.209.202.9/latch.jpg this?
That latch keeps the tray closed. If it isnt there, you will need to replace it. A good source is broken laptop cd drives. If it is there, it may be knocked out of alignment, and that should be easy to fix. |
