I have a powerbook g4. It is about 2.5 years old. When I went to start it up it showed up with the Apple symbol like usual and it showed that it starting up but was taking 15 minutes so I shut it down and restarted it and then it started up and showed the apple symbol once again but a screen came up saying push the restart button or hold down the power button for a few seconds. So I did that and ever since then it always come up with the same screen when I try to turn it on. Every now and then just the apple symbol will come up but that is everything. I just graduated from GMU with a degree in graphic design and I have all my work on there, have not had the time to transfer it and also have been doing freelance work so EVERYTHING, MY LIFE is on there. The computer is my life and I need all the work plus the computer to search for a job. I need whatever help I can get. Does anyone have any idea what the problem is? I was told to try to take the battery out for about a hour and then put it back in but that did nothing, it is fully charged anyways. I REALLY REALLY need some advice on this subject.

It sounds like a kernel panic.

Have you added any new hardware or software recently?

Do you still have your Install CD/DVD that came with the Powerbook? I would suggest loading in the main DVD and boot holding down Option and launch the Apple Hardware test and run it. See if it finds any bad hardware.

Which Powerbook do you own?

Which PowerBook G4 is it? Plenty were released...

And if this was your work tool, why did you not think of backups?
