Which one is Better and why?
I currently have a Black MacBook with the following in it:
Still has just under a year of Apple Care Protection Plan Left...
2.2GHz Intel Core 2 Duo
2 GB 667 MHz DDR2 SDRAM - 2x1 GB
160 GB Serial ATA Drive @ 5400 RPM
Superdrive 8x (DVD-R DL/DVD-RW/CD-RW)
iWork 07 Installed
AirPort Extream Card and Bluetooth

And would like to get the MacBook Air with the 64 GB Stand Still Hard-Drive (correct name?)
I currently attend a school where my laptop takes a great part in my life. I would use it mainly for downloading music... Writing documents... and Research. Nothing Special. I wont be doing any of my photoshop work on this computer and have an external hard-drive if ever needed (although would prefer not to use). I have 19.35 GB of music and Movies that i would have to keep and i would need the full version of Microsoft Office.

I like the new computer because of its portability and slimness because i would be carrying it around everywhere i went everyday (even weekends)

So what does everyone think? What is the best option... money is no object here.

can you really justify buying a $3000 computer just so its about 2% more portable.

Macbook.

The Macbook is already very very portable, and it's got it all. The Macbook Air is very very very (...) portable, but it lacks so many things for the price that it's not worth it (personal opinion!).

macbook. only slightly less portable and infinitely more capable. form follows function, not vice versa.

Solid State Harddrive, not Stand Still Harddrive and the $1000 price is not worth it right now, the technology is still very new.

for a what, 2lb drop in weight and a $2000 more for a 64g SSD drive.. not worth it for what little you would gain.

Stand-Still HardDrive? Haha I like this name, says all about MBA performance.. If money is no object, I think I'll get both machines, what ar you waiting for??.. heehee..

Anyway, like everyone else here, i think i'll have to stick with MB, since its design is quite slim and sexy anyway.

But to be fair, I haven't use MBA yet, I think you'll want to use it for internet and simple word processing, but may be not for graphic presentation and media entertainments etc. But it is a very sexy machine i hav to say...

Meaning that The MacBook Air is Slower than the MacBook and slower than the MacBook Pro (understandable) but from what i understand which isnt much the 64 BG hard drive is going to be faster than the MacBook because of the way the hard drive works??? So
the Speed test:
1. MacBook Pro
2. MacBook
3. MacBook Air

The Macbook Air is no more portable then the Macbook. It is also the slowest computer Apple makes. Not the slowest laptop...the slowest computer. Yes, it is even slower then the Mac Mini. Clearly you just want a new gadget.

If money is no object than go for it. It is a very light machine, and if you carry it around with you every single day it might be worth it. I don't think the solid state hd would effect speed as much as battery performance since there are no platters to spin up.
