I'm a grad student and read lots of papers on my computer. It seems that the amount of reading material my professors send me files of increases every year. Presently I print and read the paper version of about half of what I could read on screen, but it would be great if I could increase this percentage in favor of on screen reading with my new mac. Right now I 14" HP business notebook with a SXGA+ TFT screen (I think). I guess the main choices with mac are the glossy MB screen, or the matte or glossy led MBP screen. Anyone done any comparisons? Thanks!

Most likely 17" macbook pro, seems like the obvious choice.

Definitely get matte if you're worried about eye strain.

I will second the matte screen and also say, if you can, go to an apple store and get on a 15" and 17" MBP and see what it's like to read a lot of text.

+3 on the matte if you have a lot of un draped windows or lights behind
you the glossy will reflect all of them.
